Interpreting and translating are two closely related linguistic disciplines…very often confused!
Translations are written. Interpreting is spoken. They’re very different skills: we offer both.
Interpreting occurs in real time. It happens in person, on the phone, or through a television/ video service/visit.
Translating involves the written word so it takes place after a text is created, which gives the translator time to access resources (dictionaries, glossaries, subject matter experts, etc.) to produce an accurate and effective final document.
When you ask for interpreting/translating assistance it is advisable to specify in detail what your needs are!
Services are client-specific for cost-effective solutions. There are different kinds of support we can provide, ranging from:
Escort Interpreting
In this type of interpretation, the interpreter travels with or accompanies clients at all times to help them communicate in every situation.
The interpreter accompanies a delegation or an individual on tours, visits, dinners, international fairs, events or to a meeting or a series of subsequent business meetings for a short time or for longer periods. Because of his/her role, the interpreter may act also as a cultural liaison for the client being responsible for everything from ordering food, negotiating or booking hotels and services to closing business deals. The interpreter makes sure that all parties understand what other people say and what happens around them.
An escort interpreter acts as a skilled assistant, helping clients to ” navigate” safely while they are traveling on business trips.
Simultaneous Interpreting
The interpreter simultaneously conveys the speaker’s words in the target language from a booth. This service requires the use of special equipment (booths, headphones and microphones)which makes the service more expensive.
However, it is convenient and time saving as all listeners can understand/respond, if this is the case, in real time…
Whispering is often called by its French name, “Chuchotage”
The interpreter conveys the speaker’s words by “whispering” standing/sitting next to him/her or in the case of site visits, walking with the delegate.
No special equipment is required.
Whispering interpretation is often the technique of choice for:
Business negotiations
Site visits (workshops, factories, etc)
One-on-one or small group meetings
Consecutive Interpreting
The speaker stops the speech at frequent intervals to allow the interpreter to convey the original message in the target language based on the notes that she/he has taken. No technical equipment is required and this service may be best for events with a few participants. It is, however, time consuming…
Conference interpreting
It is exclusively oral communication at international conferences or meetings: transferring a message from one language into another, naturally and fluently, adopting the delivery, tone and convictions of the speaker and speaking in the first person. It is the job of the interpreter to enable speakers to communicate with each other, not by translating every word they utter, but by conveying the ideas which they express.
Phone Interpreting
It can be useful and needed for all sorts of inquiries that can be done over the phone to set up appointments, discuss/clarify contracts, partnership, product specifics, general business or any information in the quickest and fastest way. Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) reduces the high cost of in-person or on-site interpreting. You pay only the time spent on the phone with a per minute rate.
Website Translation
WORDS BY THEMSELVES DO NOT TRANSLATE THE CULTURAL NUANCES AND INNER MEANINGS!
Our Team provides not only language support but also cultural insight that is the key for an accurate
service.
Website Translation
It is the skillful process of modifying an existing website content making it culturally suitable to a target audience. It requires linguistic accuracy, technical precision and culture competence in the target language as well as accuracy in transferring from one language to the other the marketing communication details and approach required by a native speaker or the target audience.
Vocabulary, images, grammar, punctuation, style and level of speech are all important and taken into consideration to make sure the language used reflects the target audience’s culture and society. In order to avoid subtle unwanted meaning it is always advisable that images and colors are carefully reviewed/selected to positively reflect upon your company message.
